Mission Ministry:
Hannah's Promise - Respite Care
Children with special needs have a special place in our hearts – and in our church – at Hannah’s Promise. Through this ministry we seek to honor Jesus’ desire that all children be welcomed and embraced as signs of the Kingdom.
Hannah’s Promise offers support for children with special needs and their entire families through the following programs:
A monthly respite care program that allows parents who have children with special needs an evening to themselves while their children – including siblings – are treated to four hours of one-to-one care and attention. The evening for the children includes crafts, indoor and outdoor play, supper (provided by the parents themselves), and a Bible story and worship time. Volunteers are carefully selected, screened and equipped.
Sunday morning assistance to families with children with special needs allows the parents to worship or attend Sunday school while their children are cared for by either mainstreaming them in classes, accompanied by a volunteer, or in a special environment. This ministry is called “Sunbeams”.
Occasional seminars are also offered that helps families who have children with special needs deal with such challenges as estate planning, lifetime care, and educational issues, as well as focusing on their own relationship through marriage enrichment courses.
